Renfrew - lovers of quality food

You learn a lot about people when you run a market stall.    It's part of what makes it fun.     One thing you definitely learn is that predicting how a day is going to go is a waste of time (maybe Tesco have a magic formula but I am talking about ordinary mortals).   I used to think it could be determined by the weather, how close to payday it was, how near to Christmas or whether I was wearing my lucky boxer shorts (probably more detail than you need).   However, I've decided although those factors can make a difference the real difference is whether a place 'gets' what you are doing or not.

I won't name names but some places, despite all your best efforts, will simply repeatedly tell you that they can get it for 50p in ASDA (by the way you probably can get something called jam for ASDA for 50p but it will bear no relation to what we are selling).   Other places simply appreciate what you are doing and support you.   For us, Renfrew is one such place.   Every market there we get really great people coming up, interested in what we are doing, wanting to know more and purchasing produce.   Even better they then come back.   Yesterday our location was not ideal and we took some finding, but many people went out of their way to track us down.  It's really great to hear "your jam is the best we've ever tasted" and makes all the hard work worthwhile.

So thank you to the people of Renfrew and we hope to be with you again soon.

I am definitely with you on this on - real jam / chutney tastes so different to supermarket stuff, doesn't it - and takes a lot more hard work! Susie (Dollop & Scoff)
